OK, I'm no Dawn Ramsayer so bear with me while I try to capture the essential details. 1) Shed: The shed was purchased from Costco for $893.24 by Mr. Cloward. It is an 8x10 plastic shed with a floor and windows. We discussed the probability that we will need to put down a 10x12 gravel bed in order to properly seat the shed. Mike Lyons and Doug will meet with Mr. Cloward to survey the site and make plans. Probably the shed installation party on Saturday the 18th will consist of preparing the site for the gravel with the installation of gravel and shed to follow at a later date. 2) Centennial Award: Doug needs to get input from the following people to set the following goals for the centennial award These are goals for 2007 based on our performance in 2006. Should be easy to meet the goals since we are setting them more than halfway through the year Tom Meyer 1. We will have ___ percent of our direct contact leaders complete Basic Leader Training for their position, including Youth Protection Training. ______ Last year's percent ______ This year's percent Sue Peterson 2. As one of the committed units in our district, our goal is to retain ______ percent of our members, recruit ______ new youth, and recharter on time. ______ percent retained, ______ number new youth, and ______ rechartered on time Sue Peterson 3. As a participating unit in the national parent initiative, we commit to recruit ______ new adults to be active. ______ Actual number of new adults Mayra and Jeff McDonald 4. We had a minimum of 60 percent of our youth members advance in rank for Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting or earn Venturing recognition awards, or we improved by 10 percent over last year. Percent advanced/earned ______ last year and ______ this year Mayra and Jeff McDonald 5. At least 70 percent of our youth members had an outdoor experience or one activity per month, or improve the percentage over last year. ______ percent last year ______ percent this year 3) Parade: The committee approved a budget of $300 for float construction and snacks. Paul Hunt and John Peterson volunteered to tow the float from the Robert's house to Painted Rock the morning after the parade to show it off. Jacob Meyer's design was chosen as the winner of the design contest. 4) Camping: October 19th: Balboa is not available. Mrs Meyer is looking into other sites including Mission Trails and Lake Jennings January Campout: Moved to Jan 11th-13th because Anza-Borrego Desert group sites were all reserved for the 18th-20th. The reservations for January 11th-13th have been made (Res # 2-1445413 CA and 2-1445412 CA.) The reservation cost $227 for up to 48 people. We get 12 cars free with that fee and will have to pay $6 per day for each additional car. 5) Awards to be handed out at the back to school picnic will be: Summertime activity awards and advancements (Doug H.), Midway Patches and certificates (Pat), Padres patches (John P.), Resident camp patches (John P and Frank L.) 6) Round-up: We still don't know when the Back to school night will be but Leaders in uniform will be there when it is. Round-up will be Thursday, Sept 20th at 7:00 PM, Doug, John and maybe a few others will be there in uniform. The rest will be in Pack 618 t-shirts. 7) There are a lot of district events on the calendar for next year. We will let the parents know about them in the monthly announcements. 8) Webelos Woods: We need to get the word out about Webelos woods. Boys will need class I medical forms filled out. Mr. Lyons will get as many as he can from Mr. Peterson. Webelos Is especially need to be encouraged to get involved since there weren't a lot of them at summer camps. 9) Popcorn: For Webelos IIs the committee expressed an interest in giving 1/2 of the boys' share of the commission to the boys and 1/2 to the troop that they join. The committee also expressed an interest in not purchasing our own prizes but rather just going with the prizes that are provided by Trails End. We look to our Popcorn Kernel to decide if it is possible to jibe these two. We need to distribute popcorn packages at the back to school picnic. -- Doug Hershberger Cubmaster, Pack 618 Calendar: http://tinyurl.com/29lvl8
